Along the way, Gina had been looking for a sign and Michael reminds her of the double rainbow they saw together - the promise of a colorful life ahead. Sensing the hopelessness in Michael she so recently saw in herself, Gina reaches out to Michael and his kids and the two families begin to forge an unlikely friendship and close bond. The Color of Rain is the story of two parents who experience the loss of their spouses just six weeks apart from each other. Sensing the hopelessness in Michael she so recently saw in herself, Gina reaches out to Michael and his kids and the two families begin to forge an unlikely friendship and close bond. Their story is inspirational and touching. It was read very well by the authors and I came to know and love all of the participants. The story goes like this: When young husband and father Matt Kell succumbs to a terminal cancer diagnosis on Christmas day 2005, his widow, Gina, and two young boys are left to cope with the pain of his loss while their close church community gathers around them for support.
The acting is solid by not exciting. As they share their grief, the children also enjoy being together, and it seems they easily become like family. The Color of Rain is by far the best book on the subject of loss and all that it means. Over the year that follows, their lives become intertwined as they learn to lean on each other during the at-times insurmountable obstacles, tears and adversity and begin to heal with laughter, compassion and faith. An amazing book written by 2 people who share their journey's after their spouses die. I've been there, shaking my fist, angry at God and asking Him why on earth did He allow that? Im sure there's more to their story than what was portrayed in the movie. I can't wait and I am so excited that I'm going to be working alongside some very talented on-air personalities.
The shared experience of Michael and Gina brought them together and they want to help others who have gone through a tragedy like they did. Michael and Gina can attest to the fact that there is life after cancer strikes a family. None of the kids wants a new mother or father. She has written her own book, , from Sourced Media Books. The author truly understands what happens to a family when it loses someone to Cancer. I also don't think I've ever read a non-fiction book in one day.
It takes a certain group of skills to bring a true story to life. I saw the movie on Hallmark Channel, but knew there had to be so much more to the story, so I read the book. As Gina and Michael realize their newfound friendship is so much more, they struggle against some surprising resistance from their families and community to unite their two grieving families as one and eventually learn to open their hearts to love again. A wonderful, inspiring true story of two families who grew great happiness from their own tragedies. The horrific experiences that their spouses and families went through was hard to read and I definitely shed a few tears, but having read the synopsis, I knew this story had an uplifting and happy ending.
In other words, I didn't feel as if I was left hanging between chapters. For some Christians who have trouble allowing themselves or others the necessary time and journey of grieving, this book can be helpful. I worked as a hospice nurse for over 20 years and this book touched my heart with it's honesty, hope and sharing from heart. I am so glad I did. Reading the honesty and the process that these families went through was helpful.
It could be, but these authors the surviving spouses found that life can continue on in new challenging ways. Wanting to be close to her kids, Gina starts to volunteer at their elementary school and meets the Spehn children, Jack, Danny and Charlotte. This book is heavy at times, but only because the subject matter is heavy. I heard Gina Kell Spehn speak recently and was even blessed with th I haven't given many fives recently--I'm not sure why. She chuckled when she told me that I had the wrong book. All's well in the reading world! In the end, will Michael and Gina, both decide to follow their own hearts? That's what happened to me anyway.
Although Michael and Gina don't know each other well, at first, they do know exactly how the other feels. Follow her on Like her on. This book was definitely a five for me. I really enjoy watching Lacey Chabert's movies. I don't know what I would do in this situation.
In a gut-wrenching coincidence, just weeks after Matt's death, the Spehn's mom, Cathy, also suddenly succumbs to cancer, leaving her distraught husband, Michael, to care for their three kids on his own. Why isn't Hallmark Channel showing it when they say it would be on? Wanting to be close to her kids, Gina starts to volunteer at their elementary school and meets the Spehn children, Jack, Danny and Charlotte. All Anne of Green Gables images are the property of Sullivan Entertainment Inc. Michael also shares that he and his children have been going through much of the same thing. I feel that the authors would want you to know that getting through the tragedies of losing a spouse and then continuing with their lives to find hope and love only happened because of their faith. The author truly understands what happens to a family when it loses someone to Cancer.
